Privacy statement

Last update: 15 October 2026.

Sofion helps pharma and life sciences organisations with medical education, communication and the findability of their content. This statement applies only to sofion.eu and explains how Sofion handles your personal data. We treat the data of our visitors with the greatest care and act in line with applicable privacy law, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who we are

This website is operated by Sofion B.V., established in Deventer, the Netherlands. Our contact details are at the end of this statement.

What data we collect

Sofion does not require you to create an account to use this website. We collect personal data in the following cases:

  • When you use our contact form or start a conversation, you provide your name, your email address and the content of your message, so we can respond to your request.
  • When you email or call us, we receive your name and contact details as part of your message.
  • When you visit the website, we automatically collect limited, mostly anonymous usage data through cookies and similar techniques (see below).

The term personal data refers to information that can be used to identify you. We do not collect information about race, age, political or religious beliefs, or health.

Why we use your data

We use your data only for clear purposes:

  • to answer your question or follow up on your request;
  • to understand, in aggregate, how the website is used, so we can improve it;
  • to comply with legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics

We use tracking techniques such as cookies to collect anonymous information about how this website is used. Cookies are small files that let us store and collect specific information about the use of our website on your device. When you enter the site you can set your cookie preferences. Analytics and other non-essential cookies load only after you give consent.

The information collected automatically may include the number of sessions, the number of total and unique users, your device type, which pages are viewed and in what order, and the time spent on pages.

For Google Analytics we apply additional safeguards. We have activated IP anonymization, so your IP address is shortened within the European Economic Area before it is transferred. Only in exceptional cases is an IP address sent to a Google server and shortened there. Google does not combine the IP address collected through Google Analytics with other data Google holds. You can prevent or limit the storage of cookies through your browser settings; if cookies are disabled, the website may not work optimally.

Sharing data with third parties

Sofion may share personal data with service providers (processors) that support this website, such as our hosting provider and the service that delivers our contact form emails. These parties process data only on our instructions and under an agreement that protects your data.

We may also share personal data in response to legal proceedings, or where the law requires it, or, to the extent permitted, to protect the rights, property or safety of Sofion, this website and its users. If assets of Sofion are transferred or sold to another entity, personal data may be transferred to the acquiring entity, to the extent permitted.

Security

The personal data Sofion collects is processed with appropriate technical and organisational measures. Despite our security efforts, it is important to know that communication over the internet is not completely secure; you use our website at your own risk.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data no longer than necessary for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and our relationship, and are then removed.

Your rights

You have, among others, the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • to ask whether we hold your personal data and to access it, including the categories, the recipients and the retention period;
